TIAHN is not interested in pretending your twenties are graceful. On her debut EP LiFe iS wEiRd, the Meanjin/Brisbane artist turns emotional whiplash into sharp-edged indie-pop, bouncing between heartbreak, ego bruises, romantic certainty and complete personal chaos without trying to smooth any of it into neat life lessons.
The six-track release pulls together the different strands TIAHN has been threading through her recent singles: glossy indie-pop hooks, R&B phrasing, bursts of jazz instrumentation and lyrics that swing between self-dragging humour and outright confrontation. There’s confidence running through the record, but it’s the kind that sounds earned rather than performed.
Speaking about the EP, TIAHN said she wanted the songs to reflect “the journey of how I have become the person I am”, describing her twenties as “a wild ride” shaped by disappointment, anger and self-discovery. That tension sits at the centre of LiFe iS wEiRd. The record never settles into one emotional lane for too long, constantly shifting between tenderness, irritation, confidence and insecurity in ways that feel recognisable rather than curated.
Having already shared stages with acts including The Tullamarines and Lou’Ana, while also earning recognition as a semi-finalist in the 2025 International Unsigned Only Music Awards, TIAHN is building momentum without sanding away the personality that makes these songs work in the first place.
